How to Succeed in Affiliate Marketing
There are three main phases in a succesful affiliate marketing campaign.
Phase 1 – the traffic source.
As mentioned above this is an ever changing landscape, what worked last year might not work in the years to come. Plus there are new social platforms coming out every few years now.
Phase 2 – ‘The Bridge”.
This is where we as affiliate marketers can make or break the success of the campaign.
If you are still simply linking phase 1 direct to the actual product/service page then you need to re think what you are doing.
You need to be building a list, you need to be creating a reason for the traffic to buy.
Personally, I’ll do a couple of things. Let them know that the product/service will solve a specific problem for them. Let them know all the options, plus give them a little extra by the way of bonuses or extra help if they do purchase.
Phase 3 – The Sales
Everything here is vender controlled. In most cases the best level of interaction we can have are the stats. So we might be able to find out how many clicks the actual affiliate link got, the conversions and the commissions owed.
To be fair, we can control both phase 1 and phase 2 to some degree, but phase 3 is out of our hands So we need to make sure we are doing the best job we can in those phases.
But it has to be a combination. If you master traffic, but the bridge ‘phase2’ isn’t up to scratch then it won’t be a success. The same applies to mastering phase 2, but never getting the traffic.
One thing to remember, it’s NEVER as easy as somebody might tell you !
